The Buildings History
Bridlesmith Gate has existed since the Middle Ages. It was called Bridlesmith Gate or something very similar to it as long ago as 1304 and it reflects the importance of the smiths of Nottingham. Until the 19th Century it was the main shopping street in Nottingham and formed part of a London to Leeds coach route. In 1819, the footway was paved, being one of the earliest paved footways in Nottingham and the carriage track was pre-paved with boulders. Gas lighting was installed by the Nottingham Gas and Coke Company. Of the ten gas lamps, which were considered sufficient to illuminate the whole of the town, five were allotted to Bridlesmith Gate.
The Development
High quality, period style fixtures and fittings were used throughout the development in order to enhance the stunning historic features. Each kitchen is bespoke, with dove tail finishes and soft close draws. The creation of exposed brick wall finishes perfectly showcase the completed look.
